Your Mother is No More

” She will not come,

Dont set your eyes to the door..

Sleep little son,
Your mother is no more.

Not in the sea,
Nor on the land,
will you feel again,
the warmth of her hand..
Which you once failed to love and adore,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

She kept up all night,
so that you could sleep.
She cried with you
when you would weep..
And now that you have learnt to snore,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

She sat and watched
your infant head,
Those caring eyes,
are now dead..

But why are your eyes so wet and sore?
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

Your first tooth appeared,
and she waited all summer.
Her joy knew no bounds,
when you finally said “mama”.
She will not come now, no matter how much you shout or roar,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

Upon your trembling feet,
she helped you stand
and guided your steps
with her leading hand..
Now that new horizons, you have learnt to explore,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

She made you food
and baked your bread,
Seeing you satisfied,
tears of affection shed..
But now, when your stomach’s empty, but heart is filled with grief to the core,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

She taught you how to enjoy
the first showers of rain,

And knit warm clothes

when the sun would refrain..
Now that beyond those pearly gates, she shall have no season in store,
Sleep little son, your mother is no more.

Come to the window, son, come to me.
Let me show you, what you fail to see.
She only can be seen by one who probes..
Up she goes, to the one dressed in purple robes.

She is sad, as in you bed you lay,
and she cannot sing to you, till you dream away.
She wants to hold you, and kiss you once,
but never again, will she get that chance.

She is sad, when she sees you cry,
and she cannot come, to pacify.
So cry not, dear son, for your tears make her sad,
I’ll be there for you as both, your Mother and Dad.

She is leaving for heaven, but she does not want to go.
She finds heaven in serving you so.
See those lights that twinkle so far?
Your mother has become the brightest star!

So the next time you miss the warmth of her smile,
Come and stare at these stars for a while.
She will not come, dont set your eyes to the door..
Sleep little son, your mother is no more!”
