Review: Batiste Dry Shampoo

Batiste Dry Shampoo review

Motherhood comes with its trials and travails and sometimes it means not having enough time to wash my hair – eek! I know I may evoke that reaction from some, but I’m sure a lot of mommies would be able to relate to this.

Then how does one manage to look her best at meetings the next day?

Initially a dry shampoo skeptic, once I joined back work, I had no choice but to try dry shampoo for the very first time. Now since this is my first stint with dry shampoo so I do not have a point of reference to say “this is better than that”. But I’ve heard a lot about Batiste Dry Shampoo from my friends abroad, and now that it is available in the Middle East, I decided to give it a go.

Batiste dry shampoo is available in 5 fragrances – Original, Blush, Oriental, Floral and Cherry. For the purpose of review, I tried the Floral and Original, of which I liked the smell of Original better. Both fragrances are pleasing and last in your hair for about 2-3 hours.

To start out, I hate piling my hair with products as I have seen that they weigh them down and make them appear oily very quickly. Just shampoo, conditioner and some serum on occasions. Inspite of this, if I’m out a lot or attending events, my hair gets greasy by the second day.

How I use Batiste Dry Shampoo: Usually, it is the top front of my hair that looks the most flat and hence that’s where I use the dry shampoo. I divide my hair into a straight section and spray some dry shampoo, then brush or comb through the section to spread the product evenly. Next make another section and repeat the above till I have covered the whole area.

Payoff: After using the Batiste Dry Shampoo, my hair in the treated area looks glossy, soft to the touch and super bouncy. It’s like breathing life into dull, tired hair. However, I’ve noticed that these effects last you only up to 4-5 hours, after which they are back to their old greasy self, perhaps even more so.

Recommendation: After using the Batiste Dry Shampoo for a fair number of times, I think it is a great short cut to manageable, fantastic looking hair. However given that the effects are short  lived, just like the Cinderella effect, I’d suggest you use it just before a meeting or an event. The bounce and flounce won’t last all day.

To Summarize: Batiste Dry Shampoo is a great product if you want soft, shiny, bouncy and great smelling hair for a matter of a few hours. I would treat this, or any dry shampoo as a quick fix, and cannot substitute the after-effects of a real shower.

Where to buy: In the UAE, you can purchase Batiste Dry Shampoo from Carrefour or Boots pharmacies. For those of you reading this post from the rest of the Middle East, you can Click Here for availibility details.

  1. Absolutely love using dry shampoo! It’s been a game-changer in my beauty routine. Saves time, adds volume, and keeps my hair feeling fresh. Would love to hear others’ experiences with different brands and would like to add mine with the juice beauty line of dry shampoos
