Last Minute Eid Holiday Ideas In and Around Dubai

Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa

Come September, and all of us have our eyes on the calendar hoping for a long Eid ul Adha weekend. Our stars have been lucky enough, as this year the Eid holidays extend upto 5 days and many of us have planned trips and getaways to make the most of this break.

If you’re tight on budgets or simply have been too lazy to plan – in this month’s collaboration post, I bring together leading bloggers to share some ideas for Eid getaways in and around Dubai for that last minute vacation. Here goes.

Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa

You don’t have to go too far for this break. The Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa right here in Dubai. I stayed here a couple of months ago and simply loved it. The food is good, the service is great – but most importantly the room is to die for! We chose a lagoon access room. There’s no need to step out of your room to use the swimming pool.  Just put on a swimsuit, open your balcony and jump right into the water. I’d definitely prefer a room like this than the over water villas. Such an amazing experience! Its perfect for a short break.

Di Ghent, Muscat

Muscat [map]

Well known as ‘Beauty has an address’. Muscat is beauty uncovered and unexplored. It boasts about a city amongst stunning mountains that stand tall and give the most gorgeous backdrop to a random hilly drive, or perhaps a view from a hotel/room!
I have had the opportunity to travel around the world but I think for people living in Dubai, I would suggested driving up to the Shangri-la Barr Al Jissah, Muscat, for its 360 degree view from a cliff and a surreal view that is unforgettable. It is one of its kind and the drive up is brilliant.
Muscat also has spots like the corniche, Shatti al Qurum/love street with a beach view while you relax at bistros and cafes, Madinat Qaboos houses the most famous restaurant/cafe Kargeen which is a traveler’s delight (great photo opportunities)  and not forgetting a visit to the famous Grand Mosque. A visit to each of these places for a 3-4 day trip would be apt.

Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & SpaOceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa [map]

When it comes to beach resorts, the most popular places to visit from Dubai are usually Fujairah or Ras Al Khaimah. While these are great places with some wonderful resorts, we had the pleasure of visiting Khorfakkan last year. This little city, which is actually a part of Sharjah, has beautiful beaches, water sports, a diving centre, and even parks for kids. We stayed in Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa and loved every minute we spent there. Their private beach was beautiful and pristine. The water was a lovely shade of blue, and the mountains were a sight to look at. It’s a short drive from Dubai (only about 90 minutes), and a lovely place to visit if you’re planning a weekend getaway!

Bab-Al-Shams Resort

Bab al Shams Resort [map]

Bab-Al-Shams Resort is one of my favourite resorts in UAE and my go-to-spot for the last minute plans be it birthdays or anniversary or anything else at all. Not too far from Dubai, it makes the ideal staycation destination for me being a new mommy, when I don’t want to be too far from the city but still be in a place where I can forget it all about my routine city life. Bab-Al-Shams with its stunning rustic Arabic ambience very beautifully weaves in all the contemporary luxuries to ensure you enjoy every bit of your work. There are some amazing restaurants in there. The staff is welcoming, friendly and always keen to take the best care of you. It was our first staycation with our little baby there and they really took good care of us. They have a lovely spa too. Definitely a resort to check out.

Al Ain Rotana

Al Ain Rotana [map]

“If you are looking to break away from the hustle bustle of the city then there is only one place to head. Tucked away in a corner of the quiet city of Al Ain, the Rotana hotel redefines luxury all on its own. Divine services, extravagant offerings, scenic views & hospitable services is what staying at Al Ain Rotana is all about.

The premium suite is an absolute delight to live in – spacious, comfortable and homely. The elegantly designed space is carefully split between a master bedroom, a living area with a separate dining area, fully equipped kitchenette and a large balcony overlooking the Falaj swimming pool.

Not too far away from the suite are a great variety of dining and entertainment options. Al Ain Rotana has a host of restaurants within the property for residents to choose from such as Lebanese and Polynesian to Italian and Lebanese. There’s also an extensive in-room dining menu should you feel like ordering in.

Watch out for: Zen Spa

While the rest of the services were quite impressive, what really made the highlight of my staycation was a visit to the luxurious Zen spa. Truly like an oyster in the sea, Zen Spa is Al Ain Rotana’s hidden gem. Being the only 5 star spa in the entire city of Al Ain, Zen spa has a range of treatments to offer to visitors and guests at the hotel. From reflexology treatments to aromatherapy massages and rejuvenating facials, the treatments are carried out by trained therapists guiding individuals throughout the pampering process. I opted for the 60 minute Aromatherapy body treatment that was followed by a visit to the steam & relaxation rooms. The therapist was well educated on the procedure and took extra caution to inquire about pressure points in my body and where I required more attention.”

Al Maha Desert Resort

Al Maha Desert Resort [map]

About an hours drive from Dubai Marina lies the magical Al Maha Desert Resort.
The room was our own private detached slice of paradise, our backyard an exquisite infinity pool looking out over the desert tundra. An oasis to the right was a graceful watering home for many Oryx and gazelles.  The sand duned view ahead of us was spectacular. A beautiful bed to sink into delicious sleep after a perfect day of activities and a majestic bathroom with plenty of room for his and hers – no elbowing each other with separate sinks!  Camel riding, falconry, archery, 4WDriving and more, I can not recommend this place enough.

JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort [map]

Luxurious, scenic and beautiful – The JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort is perfect for those who want to take a break from the bustle of the city, yet not be too far away.

Featuring 231 rooms and suites overlooking the sea, private marina, hotel gardens, several restaurants, excellent sporting facilities and children’s entertainment clubs – you will find that there’s plenty to see and do at the JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort. Whether you hone your skills at the full sized golf course or a try your luck at the mini golf course right by the sea, create a splash at one of its two beautiful swimming pools, or pamper yourselves at the spa – there’s never a dull moment here. The alluring bridges and cascading waterfalls just add to the scenic beauty of the place.

Don’t be surprised if you find a peacock walk past you – in 2 minutes, there probably will be another one! The resort boasts of over a hundred of these exotic birds within their premises along with a private camel, horses for all the aspiring cowboys in its own private zoo. If this isn’t your idea of a wholesome family holiday – I don’t know what is!
