Lemon Curd Ice Cream and Salted Caramel at The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason
Lemon Curd Ice Cream and Salted Caramel at The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason

What: Lemon Curd Ice Cream and Salted Caramel

Where: The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason [map]

When I am in the mood for something sweet I head straight for the ice cream parlour at Fortnum & Mason. The Parlour is located at the top floor of the famed British afternoon tea establishment in downtown.

Ice cream afficionados will not be disappointed with the wide variety of ice creams available and glorious toppings to accompany. All the ice creams are made with only natural ingredients, no additives or preservatives. You can create a sundae to your liking, I often opt for the lemon curd ice cream, it’s smooth, sweet with just a bit of tang. The salted caramel is also wonderful with homemade crushed shortbread cookies on top.

Kunafa at Al Shami Restaurant

What: Kunafa

Where: Al Shami Restaurant, Al Muraqqabat, Deira [map]

Choosing ONE is a tough choice, but since I have to, I would say it is the Kunafa at Al Shami Restaurant!
I’ve had the Kunafa (kanafeh) many times but this one was far out of the world. The crust has the right amount of crisp to it and just enough pistachios to enhance the flavor. Something that is not too sweet, but still keeps you craving for more. Extremely affordable, not too fancy; hits the spot!

Meringue aT Eric Kaiser Dubai Mall
Meringue at Eric Kaiser Dubai Mall

What: Meringue

Where: Eric Kayser, Dubai Mall [map]

This dessert is a delicious combination of berries. The most attractive thing in this dessert that it’s so healthy, hygienic and at the same time is very tasty – beautifully combining the sweet and sour. The best thing about it is that they make it fresh, based on your request. The Meringue at Eric Kayser is a mouthwatering dessert served in a jar with low-fat cream if requested. So I make it a point to treat myself once a month, because I deserve it!

The Chocolate Molten Lava Cake from Chili's
The Chocolate Molten Lava Cake from Chili’s

What: Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

Where: All Chili’s outlets across Dubai

Most of you must have heard of the popular Chocolate Molten Lava Cake from Chili’s. This one beats all the desserts I’ve tried so far! It HAS to be something I swear by. First, Chili’s is located at almost any mall, so this is easily accessible. Second, priced at just AED 40, Molten Lava cake is quite affordable considering its portion, which is comfortable for two. Third, the cake filled with chocolate sauce, and a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with a hardened chocolate cover, all over a bed of caramel sauce! This dessert satisfies all kinds of cravings one might have by combining chocolate, ice cream and caramel on one plate!

The Triple Chocolate Brownie Crepe at Dip n Dip
The Triple Chocolate Brownie Crepe at Dip n Dip

What:  The Triple Chocolate Brownie Crepe

Where: Dip n Dip, Dubai Mall [map] /Arabian Center [map]

Dip n Dip in Arabian Centre can be defined as Chocolate Heaven in simple words. This sinful chocolate dessert is so beautifully presented that you don’t want to ruin its design. It is called The Triple Chocolate Brownie Crepe which is a thin brownie layer between two warm crepes topped with three kinds of melted chocolates. It might be a chocolate overload hence good enough for two. However, it is quite depressing when the plate gets all empty.

The Triple Chocolate Brownie Crepe is priced at AED 40.

The Chocolate Truffle Cake at Alison Nelson's Chocolate Bar

What: The Chocolate Truffle Cake

Where: Alison Nelson’s Chocolate Bar [map]

My favorite dessert in Dubai is undoubtedly the Chocolate Truffle Cake at Alison Nelson’s Chocolate Bar. Being an ardent chocolate lover, I’m always on the lookout for the best things COCOA – be it shakes, ice cream, hot drinks, cakes, just about anything!

I finally found love in this wickedly delicious chocolate dessert! It comprises of a warm chocolate cake, with a firm outer layer that holds in a dense gooey chocolate truffle filling of your choice in dark, milk or white. And as if that wasn’t enough, the kind folks at Alison Nelson’s will smother your already richly dense, chocolate-filled cake with more chocolate truffle thereby transporting you directly to chocolate heaven! This decadent dessert is normally served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. However, you can customize it and add more scoops of ice cream and strawberries as well.

Being big fans of dessert, the baked cheesecake topped with warm caramelized peanuts at Nathalie’s Coffee & Kitchen is by far one of our favorite sweets in town! We absolutely love how light it is, and the caramelized crunchy peanuts make the perfect topping, this dessert definitely hits the spot when we feel like indulging a little!

What: The Nutella Cheesecake

Where: Sugaholic Bakeshop at Al Karama [map]

Being a massive Nutella fan it’s hard to find many Nutella flavoured desserts in Dubai. Until Sugaholic introduced a Nutella flavored Cheesecake to their menu. This no bake Nutella cheesecake has a soft Nutella cheese topping sitting on top of a thick crisp biscuit base decorated with Oreo and whipped cream. This moreish dessert is one you will not want to share.

This Dulce de Leche cheesecake at Gaucho Dubai is rich, silky and just divine! It’s served with a coconut Italian meringue that adds a nice touch of freshness to your palate. A few bites of the cheesecake with a nice cup of black coffee makes for a perfect ending to the meal.

Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory
Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory

What: Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake

Where: The Cheesecake Factory [map]

There have been several desserts I’ve indulged in but till date no dessert has come at par with the OREO DREAM EXTREME CHEESECAKE from Cheesecake Factory and the Molten Chocolate Cake from Chilis.

Being a huge fan of thick creamy cheesecakes and the fudgiest of chocolate cakes, the Oreo Cheesecake is definitely the Hybrid I love. It is constructed with layers of fudge cake and pure Oreo cookie mousse that is further topped with a semi-hard milk chocolate icing.

This cheesecake especially from cheesecake factory strives to tease your taste buds with every bite. The best part is – it isn’t too sweet, but definitely is heavy!  The recipe is formulated such that the cheesecake layer at the center somehow subsides the sweetness that originates from the chocolate mousse. With every bite of the soft supple cheesecake I love gorging on the crushed Oreo bits and a bit of whipped cream that is placed at the edge of my plate to get a quick sugar kick. I think you should do so too!

Not only does the OREO DREAM EXTREME CHEESECAKE taste good, it even looks magnificent! The remarkable and experienced chefs definitely made mouths drool and eyes dilated by making this flawless beauty!

Ferrero Rocher ice cream at Home Bakery
Ferrero Rocher ice cream at Home Bakery

What: Ferrero Rocher ice cream

Where: Home Bakery, Al Wasl [map]

Despite my visit occurring on a weeknight, Home Bakery was very busy. So busy in fact that we had to place our name on a waiting list! Despite this small setback, everything else at Home Bakery ran smoothly.

We ordered the Ferrero Rocher ice cream and the wait was definitely worth it. You are served with a massive ball of Ferrero Rocher ice cream (made on premises, daily) and a pot of hot melted milk chocolate.

The waiter poured the chocolate over the ball of goodness and it’s science right before your eyes. Within seconds the plate resembles a melted chocolate volcano and it didn’t take me long to indulge. The perfect mixture of hazelnut ice cream, warm chocolate, nuts and cake dissolve into a dreamy mess in your mouth.

It is a plate to share (unless your sweet tooth needs a huge amount of sugar!) and we spent the entire time working out which is the best way to eat the Ferrero. My personal favourite – a huge amount of every element and soaked in melted chocolate.

Highly recommend!

Jewel Box at Vintage Chocolate Lounge
The Jewel Box at Vintage Chocolate Lounge

What: The Jewel Box

Where: Vintage Chocolate Lounge, Dubai Mall [map] / Jumeirah Beach Residence [map]

The Jewel Box at Vintage Chocolate Lounge is like a sweetness overload. The outer box melts once hot chocolate sauce is generously poured over it with the little treats inside that keep infusing different flavors to your palate. It’s difficult to stop yourself from going in for another bite.

What to expect inside? Chewy milk chocolate brownies covered in edible gold powder, chocolate pearls made of milk chocolate wafer biscuits, sweet silver balls and delectable vanilla ice-cream – a dessert you will not forget for a long, long time!

Hasn’t this list given you an entire month’s worth of inspiration? Here’s summarizing all the desserts for you, in case you need to prepare a final checklist!

Which one of these inspires you to take the next cab out, drooling along the way? Which is that one dessert that you cannot wait until the next weekend to try? Tell me in the comments below and don’t forget to leave your ideas for next month’s collab post!

My God… what a list! And our absolute favourite is the Molten Lava at Chilli’s… we have even ordered home at oddest hours… only Molten Lava! No takers for Indian desserts?

Mrs HD

I wish there were some Indian desserts – to be honest. I’d love to know the best rasgullas in Dubai for example. Would you happen to know of any?
